Abstract:
Optical temperature sensors based on the fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) technique are significantly stimulated by the demands for noncontact, safe, cheap and reliable sensors in monitoring the temperatures of harsh environments. Generally, the fluorescence of lanthanide ion can be produced by upconversion process, and it is well known that the upconversion fluorescence technique is well-suited to optical temperature sensor owing to its low cost of pump laser and absence of stray light. Herein, rare earth ion doped upconversion material and its applications will be introduced. Furthermore, the temperature sensing properties are put forward.
