Abstract:

As the typical objects in nuclear-related production and activities, Cs(I), Sr(II), Eu(III) and Th(IV) are relevant in radioactive waste management and environmental protection. Their migration and transformation will be controlled by the micaceous minerals widely in soils and sediments. The availability of different sites on micaceous minerals is varying due to the type and weathering degree. In this presentation, the comparison on the adsorption behaviors of Cs(I), Sr(II), Eu(III) and Th(IV) in micaceous mineral suspensions was discussed by employing macroscopic experiments, extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (EXAFS), and model calculation.

 

About the speaker:

Dr. Hanyu WU, a postdoctoral researcher at IFCEN, received her Ph.D. degree from the School of Nuclear Science and Technology, Lanzhou University in 2018. Her research is focused on the migration and transformation of environmental radioactive pollution.
